Australia’s best lacrosse athletes set to shine at Major League Sixes event in Adelaide
Adelaide is set to again host the nation’s most exciting lacrosse showcase when the Lacrosse Australia Major League Sixes event hits Marden Sports Complex from Thursday 13 November to Saturday 15 November.
The fast-paced, high-scoring Olympic Sixes format will see five men’s and five women’s teams – the Sydney Seahawks, Brisbane Salties, Adelaide Redbellies, Melbourne Makos and Perth Manta Rays – battle it out for national glory in an action-packed, festival-style event celebrating the sport’s bright Olympic future.
With many of Australia’s top national squad athletes taking the field, fans can expect an electrifying display of speed, skills, and athleticism as lacrosse continues to build momentum toward inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Adding to the excitement, the event will be co-hosted by Olympian and former Hockeyroo Georgie Parker, who grew up playing lacrosse before pursuing her Olympic hockey career. Parker’s return to the sport highlights lacrosse’s deep roots in Australia communities and the growing crossover appeal of the dynamic Sixes format.
Lacrosse Australia Director of Competitions, Tim Kennedy, said the Major League Sixes event marked an exciting milestone in the sport’s evolution.
“This event is more than just a championship – it’s a celebration of where lacrosse is heading,” said Kennedy.
“The Sixes format represents the future of our game at the Olympic level, and it’s fantastic that so many of our elite athletes will get to showcase their talent at this event. The momentum across the country is undeniable, and the appetite for lacrosse has never been stronger in Australia.”
The three-day event will also feature a celebrity showcase match, family-friendly competitions, and an opportunity for spectators to try Quickstix – lacrosse’s fun and accessible grassroots format. The championship final on Saturday night promises to be the highlight of an unforgettable weekend of sport and celebration.
For national squad athlete Ashtyn Hiron, of the Adelaide Redbellies, competing on Australian soil is always a special moment.
“It’s incredible to see the Sixes format growing so quickly, everyone is embracing the fast-paced style of play and it’s capturing the attention of fans around the world” said Hiron.
“As we look toward LA28 – and hopefully Brisbane32 – there’s a real buzz around lacrosse in Australia. Major League Sixes is the perfect platform to showcase our sport to families, sports fans, and anyone curious about all lacrosse has to offer. Whether you’re a lifelong lacrosse supporter or brand-new to the game, Major League Sixes will leave you inspired.”
The event will also honour both the rich history and exciting future of Australian lacrosse, including the inaugural Australian Lacrosse Hall of Fame class, the Boys and Girls teams that won gold at the inaugural Under 16 championship in South Korea earlier this year, as well as the 1995 Under 19 and 2005 World Champion teams.
Get down to Marden Sports Complex from Thursday 13 November to Saturday 15 November to check out all the action; tickets can be purchased at https://www.ticketebo.com.au/lacrosse-australia/major-league-sixes-2025.
