Australian Men’s & Women’s Sixes Squads confirmed for 2026
Lacrosse Australia has today confirmed its updated Men’s and Women’s Sixes squads for 2026, continuing its strong momentum as the programs build towards LA28 and beyond.
Each squad will now comprise 30 athletes, including 18 National Squad athletes and 12 National Development Squad athletes, a structure designed to both maximise high-performance outcomes and optimise support for Lacrosse Australia athletes.
The announcement follows a highly successful 2025 international campaign for Australia’s Sixes programs. The women’s squad enjoyed a standout year, claiming bronze at The World Games in Chengdu, China, in a thrilling overtime golden-goal victory over Japan, before backing it up with a silver medal at the World Lacrosse Super Sixes event in Oshawa, Canada. The men’s squad also delivered a strong performance in Oshawa, finishing fourth against a highly competitive international field.
Lacrosse Australia Head of High Performance Ben Bishop, said that the updated squad structure reflected both the strength of Australia’s current Sixes programs and a clear focus on future growth.
“The results we saw in 2025 are a testament to the quality, depth and experience within our Sixes athlete cohort,” said Bishop.
“Our National Coaches, Adam Sear and Katrina Dowd, have done a great job in setting their respective programs up for long term success. Their leadership on and off the field will be critical to our goal of winning medals at the LA Olympic Games. I am looking forward to seeing them continue to positively drive our Sixes programs forward”.
Bishop said the revised model aligned strongly with Lacrosse Australia’s Olympic ambitions as the sport continues its journey on the world stage.
“With Sixes firmly established on the Olympic pathway, this squad structure allows us to continue raising high performance standards and accelerate development while building continuity and depth towards LA28 and beyond,” said Bishop.
“There is genuine excitement around our high performance programs, and the progress we’re seeing reflects the work being done across athletes, coaches and staff.”
The updated Men’s and Women’s Sixes squads will underpin Lacrosse Australia’s preparation throughout 2026, with athletes to be engaged in ongoing training environments, national camps and international opportunities as the Olympic cycle progresses.
