2022 Box & U18 National Event Annoucment

Following the announcement from the Western Australian Government regarding their hard border, Lacrosse Australia (LA), with engagement from our Member Associations (MAs), has decided to postpone the 2022 Box and U18 National Events.

  • The Box National Event, which was planned to be held in March, has now been postponed until November 2022.
Exact dates for this event will be confirmed in the coming weeks once further engagement has been conducted with MAs regarding their domestic competition calendar.  It is also envisioned that the 2023 Box National Event will return to the February timeslot.

  • The U18 National Event, which was planned to be held in April, has now been postponed until July 2022.
LA will program the event around the common weekend of the school holidays, with preliminary plans for the event to be held over the 7-10 of July. LA will work with MAs to finalise exact dates with a further announcement to be made in the coming weeks.

While these decisions are a disruption to our planned calendar and normal operations, these decisions now provide the best opportunity to have players, coaches and officials from all States in attendance and also provides clarity and certainty to MAs, players, families and team staff who were planning and preparing to travel for these events.

As we have done for the last two years, LA and MAs will continue to work together to monitor the current restrictions and impacts relating to COVID-19 pandemic to make decisions for the betterment of those involved in lacrosse. We appreciate the lacrosse community’s understanding and support and we would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Member Associations' support, communication, engagement and willingness to work through these decisions.
