Morley joins staff in exciting new hybrid role ahead of LA28

Lacrosse Australia has today announced the appointment of Glenn Morley in an exciting new full-time, hybrid role that will cover three key positions within the organisation.

The West Australian native will take on the roles of Lacrosse Australia Technical Lead, Western Australian Daily Performance Environment (DPE) Lead, and Australian Men’s Field Head Coach through to 2028.

Lacrosse Australia Chair Abbie Burgess, said that the appointment of Morley to this dynamic position reflected his talent, experience, and commitment to the game.

“Glenn’s appointment is a gamechanger – Glenn brings deep coaching expertise, a sharp eye for talent, and an unwavering drive to elevate lacrosse in Australia across all formats,” said Burgess.

“Glenn will be tasked with leading the Australian talent and development space, liaising closely with the two Sixes head coaches to assist in the rapid development of our athletes in the lead-up to the LA2028 games. Additionally, he will be seeking hidden talent and developing our next generation of coaches across all three disciplines.

“Glenn has a strong history with our National teams, most recently serving as the assistant coach with the men’s team, and we’re incredibly excited to see the energy and vision Glenn will bring as we charge towards LA2028 and beyond.”

In addition to his extensive playing and coaching resume, Morley is also able to bring to these roles a career in sport, having worked within sport at State and Federal level for the last 20 years across a variety of positions including a coaching role within the WA Football Commission and a lead role in the Western Australian Government’s Sporting Pathways & Performance team.

Morley said that stepping into this new role was a huge moment, both professionally and personally.

“Lacrosse has been a huge part of my life and to now be in a position to help shape its future in Australia is something I am incredibly proud of,” said Morley.

“It’s a chance to bring together everything I’ve learned over the years, from playing at the highest level to coaching world championship teams, and use it to build something bigger than any one team or tournament.

“The National Technical Lead role gives us a real opportunity to align our national programs – Field, Sixes and Box – under one clear vision. That means consistent systems, shared values, and a style of play that’s uniquely Australian.”

Morley said that he would bring to the table a mix of experience, passion, and a deep understanding of what it takes to build high-performing teams.

“I’ve always believed in creating environments where athletes feel supported, challenged, and genuinely enjoy what they’re doing. I’m here to help our players and coaches become the best versions of themselves,” said Morley.

“What I’m most excited about is the chance to help develop a national identity that reflects who we are – tough, fast and proud. I want us to play a brand of lacrosse that’s exciting to watch and hard to play against. I want every athlete, coach and supporter to feel like they’re part of something special.

“At the end of the day, this is about building a system that lasts, that supports the growth of the game, and that gives our athletes the tools and belief to succeed on the world stage. I’m ready to get to work – and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead.”

Morley will commence in the role from June 16, where his immediate focus will be to work with the Australia’s various coaches to finalise Lacrosse Australia’s busy multi-disciplinary calendar whilst also ramping up preparations for Australia’s Men’s Field qualification tournament this coming January in New Zealand.

Lacrosse Australia looks forward to announcing further coaching appointments in the coming weeks, including Australian Women’s Field head coach as well as the remaining state lead coaches.
