Lacrosse Australia (LA) takes great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Ian McRae to the role of Lacrosse Australia Referee in Chief (LA RIC).

The LA RIC position on the Men’s National Technical Committee (MNTC) provides leadership and coordination of the recruitment, training, coaching and evaluation of Men’s Lacrosse Officials for the National events run by the Australian Lacrosse Association.

The outgoing Lacrosse Australia Referee in Chief, David Campbell, is retiring from the position. David has been an excellent leader of the MNTC and the Australian Men’s field lacrosse officials since 2020. He has participated in many World and Australian Lacrosse Championships, was the Head Official of the 2014 FIL Men’s World Championship Gold Medal game and officiated his last World Championship in Netanya, Israel in 2018.  Lacrosse Australia Thanks David for his service to Men’s Lacrosse Officiating and wishes him and his family all the best for the future.

Ian has served on the LA Men’s National Technical Committee in the role of Western Australian Chief Referee (WA CR) since 2016. He has been a leading official in WA and in Australia at National Events for many years. Ian will hold the Lacrosse Australia Referee in Chief position for two years until it is due for reappointment on 31st October 2024.

Ian’s World Championship Officiating career commenced at the International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) U19 Men’s World Cup in Towson, Maryland USA in 2003. He officiated in the Men’s World Championships in 2006 in London, Ontario Canada and in 2010 at Manchester in England.
