Australian Women’s Sixes Team named for 2025 World Games in Chengdu

Australian Women’s Sixes head coach Katrina Dowd has today announced her roster ahead of The World Games, with the team set to compete in Chengdu, China from 7-11 August.

The 12-person roster includes four South Australians, two West Australians and six Victorians, with Addie Cunningham named the sole goalkeeper. Four alternates also been named.

Women’s Sixes head coach Katrina Dowd, said that she was thrilled to announce her first Australian side and that she was looking forward to competing with the best in the world in August.

“It was great to spend time with the squad in Adelaide last Month, and I’ve been so impressed with the energy and skill that this group brings,” said Dowd.

“These athletes love the game, they compete hard, and they’re all-in for each other. You can feel how much it means to them to wear the green and gold.

“We’re fired up for Chengdu. This team will be focused, motivated and ready to put it all out there. We’re not just going to show up at The World Games – we’re going to bring everything we’ve got to represent Australia with heart.”

It also includes experienced national representatives in Rebecca Lane, Ashtyn Hiron, and Theadora Kwas, as well as one of the sport’s most decorated players in Hannah Nielsen, who won the NCAA Championship all four years she was at Northwestern University – where Dowd was a teammate.

Lacrosse Australia chair Abbie Brice, said that the level of passion, athleticism and skill within the team is exceptional.

“This is an incredibly impressive roster with an exciting blend of experience, and all of the selected athletes are renowned for their commitment and competitive drive,” said Brice.

“Under Katrina, this team will be united in its mission for The World Games, set to prepare with intensity, purpose and pride. We are fully committed to representing Australia with distinction on this world stage.”
